Legal opinion
Steven Moe, impact sector expert and partner at Parry Field Lawyers, wanted a polished publication of his Legal Opinion on Perceived Barriers to Impact Investing, to distribute to charities, investment funds, accountants and lawyers.
By carefully editing the text, we were able to convey the message in plain English, lay it out for easy reading, and accompany it with explanatory graphics and charts.
This document also meets or exceeds accessible standards.
Digital document
The 25-page document we produced includes Parry Field branding, imagery of Aotearoa landscapes, and an infographic summarising the practical take-aways from the opinion.
The main purpose was for digital distribution, but we also published a short run of 28-page A4 booklets.

“The infographic is the most important page,” Steven told us. “For lots of people, that might be the only page they read.”
How do you condense 20-odd pages of information into a single page?
We started by discarding all unnecessary information. What are the simple, core points to take away?
Then we looked at best practice, using a simple scheme of colours, icons and flowcharts to convey the method of investment Steven was proposing.
We also wrote an imaginary example for each situation, and pared each story right back to two short lines.
Far and wide
This document has been well read far and wide. Feedback to Parry Field and to us has been overwhelmingly positive, and we believe that organisations are planning changes to their investment strategies as a result of this information and their ongoing work with Steven Moe.
We have also received several enquiries from organisations that have read the opinion, and want to publish similar documents of their own. Thanks to Steven for forwarding those enquiries to us.
