Impact Enterprise Fund

Inform & educate
The Impact Enterprise Fund (IEF) is an investment fund for social enterprises. It is jointly run by the Ākina Foundation, New Ground Capital and Impact Ventures.
The Fund produces an annual Impact Report. It is essential that this report be easy to read and understand, communicating through written and visual language.

Facets & wheels
The IEF has a portfolio of nine social enterprises: CarbonCrop, CertusBio, Cropsy, Grounded Packaging, Learncoach, Tether, Waikaitu, Zerojet and Zincovery.
Each enterprise has its own report within the IEF report, a plus overarching analysis and summaries. We needed to organise and layout this collection of information in a logical and accessible way.
We also needed to incorporate existing Planetary Boundaries “wheel” diagrams in a way that was consistent with IEF branding and true to the original content.

Digital publication
IEF wanted to distribute this report digitally. The most cost-effective way to do this is using a digital PDF, which is easy to produce, uses few physical resources, and can be distributed vie email or hosted on a web page.
The other advantage of digital PDF is they can be made accessible, with a little expertise and attention.
Accessibility includes:
- Using large, high-contrast text
- Creating a layout plat plays nice when using the zoom in function, with narrow text columns and appropriate space around elements
- Adding alternative text to images
- And more small details that make all the difference to those who need them
